100 Things About Me

Everyone else has done it, and I’ve rather enjoyed their “100 things” entries, so here it goes:

1. I’m a “left brain” person… analytical, and not very good at art
2. My I.Q. is somewhere between 140 and 150
3. I got 1420 on my SATs
4. I also took them three times
5. I was homeschooled through highschool
6. I studied as a business major for three years, and then changed my mind
7. I now am pursuing a degree in biology
8. I want to be a dentist
9. I’m good with my hands, and working in small places
10. I can be extremely obsessive-compulsive at times

11. This OCD is most obvious when I eat breakfast… God help you if you disturb my place setting
12. I love computers
13. This website was born on February 5th, 2003 @ 2:15 AM
14. Three different blog engines have powered it: Blog, Movable Type, and WordPress
15. My website is an outlet for all my frustrations, ambitions, desires and quirks
16. I’m 6 feet 4 inches tall
17. I’ve never weighed a pound over 178 lbs in my life
18. Most of the time, I only eat when I’m very hungry
19. I have a slight case of body dismorphic disorder with regards to body hair… sometimes I’m almost convinced that my chest hair is a parasite of some sort
20. I had meningitis as an infant, spending several days in the ICU… the doctors told my parents I’d probably be retarded or have physical disabilities
21. No… I’m actually rather smart and athletic, as it turns out
22. I have blue eyes, brown hair, and a rather “young” looking face
23. I couldn’t grow a full beard if I tried, and I’m not worried about it in the least
24. I’m compulsive about using tweezers and nail clippers
25. I have several parallel horizontal scars on my back, most of which are stretch marks from rapid upward growth
26. Two of the scars are from actual injuries
27. There are some risque theories floating around about how I really got the scars
28. I played baseball from age 8 until age 16
29. I was always good, but just shy of making the city all-star team
30. I ran track for 4 years in highschool, mostly running the 800 meter sprint
31. I suffered from oxygen deprivation every time, often passing out or losing my sight and hearing for several minutes
32. My left bicep has always been bigger than my right (likely from baseball)
33. I’m right handed, by the way
34. I’m Roman Catholic, as is my immediate family, and some of my extended family
35. I regard myself as a political independent, with strong Libertarian leanings
36. I seriously considered joining the military after 9/11
37. This is the first time I’ve ever told anyone that
38. I’ve never really met anyone famous, besides a few musicians who got some radio play
39. I worked as a waiter in a Denny’s restaurant for 9 months
40. The experience taught me a great many things about people and business
41. I’ve lived in Florida since 1985, but I’ve never once personally endured hurricane force winds
42. I regard myself as a good driver, never having been in an accident and having avoided several
43. Two of those near-accidents were the fault of anti-lock brakes… I hate anything that takes control away from the driver
44. My first online service was Prodigy, circa 1991
45. I own a modified Xbox that can run Linux, act as a networked media center, and play Xbox, and emulation games from its 120 GB hard drive
46. I’ve contributed code, bug fixes, and plugins to WordPress, the software that runs this blog
47. As of this writing, my website gets about 1900 visits a day

58. I have a wicked cool inch-long scar on my foot where a ray got me in the Gulf of Mexico
59. I was an avid reader as a child, reading the Chronicles of Narnia when I was 7, and Moby Dick when I was 9
60. It’s quite possible that I read 1984 and Brave New World at much too young an age
61. I’m a fan of Michael Crichton and Robin Cook
62. Both of my parents are in the medical field
63. I rode horses and showed competitively for several years
64. I don’t care much for dogs
65. I’ve visited the Holy Land
66. I’m fascinated by etymology (study of the origins of words)
67. I don’t believe in many conspiracy theories, but I never tire of listening to them
68. Conservatives are just as capable of angering me as Liberals
69. My digital music collection is an obsession… I have lots of stuff I will never listen to again
70. I can’t wait for the GB to go the way of the MB in favor of TB
71. I think many of the world’s problems stem from ignorance

74. I play the guitar every once in a while
75. The sound of two paper napkins rubbing together makes me gag

77. I don’t sleep walk, but I sleep talk
78. The worst thing you can do when trying to wake me up is to use a soft soothing voice… I think you’re patronizing me and I’ll only flail more vigorously
79. American Idol is ruining music
80. I think Motorcycle helmet laws are ridiculous
81. I often have a callus from hours of computer use (from dragging the mouse)
82. My speaking voice is relatively high and non-threatening for a straight guy…
83. …But my singing voice is a bass
84. I think all the arguments against circumcision are valid, but I still have no problem with it… guess it is just tradition
85. I’ve been pierced 12 times
86. Only 4 piercings remain
87. I have one tattoo
88. I’d never get a tattoo that would be visible while wearing shorts and a t-shirt
89. I don’t own a gun, but hope to soon
90. I’m mostly nocturnal
91. I’ve never been arrested, and have only been in the back of a police car once (I ran out of gas, and a kind officer drove me to the gas station and back)
92. I haven’t had to stay in the hospital since infancy
93. I have eagle eyes, and can read signs from really far away
94. Family history suggests I will go bald at an early age and die of cancer
95. I’m very much okay with that
96. I’ll shave my head before I stoop to a combover
97. I was very introverted as a teenager, but it was only a phase
98. I have very quick reflexes
99. I’m not afraid of dying… I’d just like a little bit of advance notice
