100 Things About Me
Everyone else has done it, and I’ve rather enjoyed their “100 things” entries, so here it goes:
- I’m a “left brain” person… analytical, and not very good at art
- My I.Q. is somewhere between 140 and 150
- I got 1420 on my SATs
- I also took them three times
- I was homeschooled through highschool
- I studied as a business major for three years, and then changed my mind
- I now am pursuing a degree in biology
- I want to be a dentist
- I’m good with my hands, and working in small places
- I can be extremely obsessive-compulsive at times
- This OCD is most obvious when I eat breakfast… God help you if you disturb my place setting
- I love computers
- This website was born on February 5th, 2003 @ 2:15 AM
- Three different blog engines have powered it: Blog, Movable Type, and WordPress
- My website is an outlet for all my frustrations, ambitions, desires and quirks
- I’m 6 feet 4 inches tall
- I’ve never weighed a pound over 178 lbs in my life
- Most of the time, I only eat when I’m very hungry
- I have a slight case of body dismorphic disorder with regards to body hair… sometimes I’m almost convinced that my chest hair is a parasite of some sort
- I had meningitis as an infant, spending several days in the ICU… the doctors told my parents I’d probably be retarded or have physical disabilities
- No… I’m actually rather smart and athletic, as it turns out
- I have blue eyes, brown hair, and a rather “young” looking face
- I couldn’t grow a full beard if I tried, and I’m not worried about it in the least
- I’m compulsive about using tweezers and nail clippers
- I have several parallel horizontal scars on my back, most of which are stretch marks from rapid upward growth
- Two of the scars are from actual injuries
- There are some risque theories floating around about how I really got the scars
- I played baseball from age 8 until age 16
- I was always good, but just shy of making the city all-star team
- I ran track for 4 years in highschool, mostly running the 800 meter sprint
- I suffered from oxygen deprivation every time, often passing out or losing my sight and hearing for several minutes
- My left bicep has always been bigger than my right (likely from baseball)
- I’m right handed, by the way
- I’m Roman Catholic, as is my immediate family, and some of my extended family
- I regard myself as a political independent, with strong Libertarian leanings

- The experience taught me a great many things about people and business
- I’ve lived in Florida since 1985, but I’ve never once personally endured hurricane force winds
- I regard myself as a good driver, never having been in an accident and having avoided several
- Two of those near-accidents were the fault of anti-lock brakes… I hate anything that takes control away from the driver
- My first online service was Prodigy, circa 1991
- I own a modified Xbox that can run Linux, act as a networked media center, and play Xbox, and emulation games from its 120 GB hard drive
- I’ve contributed code, bug fixes, and plugins to WordPress, the software that runs this blog
- As of this writing, my website gets about 1900 visits a day
- I’d post here even if that was just 1
- The first thing I did after buying a label-maker was to make a label that said “Label-maker” and put it on the label-maker
- I also once scratched an itch using a bottle of anti-itch cream
- I have a cat, Gavin, and a leopard gecko, Ramses
- I built the computer I am currently using
- I took 7 years of Latin, which more than a little bit helped my SAT scores
- I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m mostly attracted to skinny pretty girls
- Cleaning my bathroom usually involves latex gloves and a lot of beer

- It didn’t work
- I have a wicked cool inch-long scar on my foot where a ray got me in the Gulf of Mexico
- I was an avid reader as a child, reading the Chronicles of Narnia when I was 7, and Moby Dick when I was 9

- I’ve been working on these 100 items for several months
- I play the guitar every once in a while
- The sound of two paper napkins rubbing together makes me gag
- I am violent in my sleep
- I don’t sleep walk, but I sleep talk
- The worst thing you can do when trying to wake me up is to use a soft soothing voice… I think you’re patronizing me and I’ll only flail more vigorously
- American Idol is ruining music
- I think Motorcycle helmet laws are ridiculous
- I often have a callus from hours of computer use (from dragging the mouse)
- My speaking voice is relatively high and non-threatening for a straight guy…
- …But my singing voice is a bass
- I think all the arguments against circumcision are valid, but I still have no problem with it… guess it is just tradition

- Only 4 piercings remain
- I have one tattoo
- I’d never get a tattoo that would be visible while wearing shorts and a t-shirt
- I don’t own a gun, but hope to soon
- I’m mostly nocturnal
- I’ve never been arrested, and have only been in the back of a police car once (I ran out of gas, and a kind officer drove me to the gas station and back)
- I haven’t had to stay in the hospital since infancy
- I have eagle eyes, and can read signs from really far away
- Family history suggests I will go bald at an early age and die of cancer
- I’m very much okay with that
- I’ll shave my head before I stoop to a combover
- I was very introverted as a teenager, but it was only a phase
- I have very quick reflexes
- I’m not afraid of dying… I’d just like a little bit of advance notice
- I’m really glad I finally finished this
That was cool. I’ve always wanted to make a list like this, but always figured it would take too long. Maybe now I’ll give it a shot.
I’d tell you that it didn’t take a long time… but I’d be lying. It probably only took 10-20 minutes of writing… but it was done 3 or 4 items at a time over a 2- or 3-month period.
#49 ROFL!!! I know SOOOOO many people that have done that. In the case of one person I know, the second lable said “Me” and was immediately stuck to his forehead….

Why does my trackback entry look weird on your blog?
Looks like it (meaning my blog) grabbed an excerpt in the middle of a link…
What it does is when you send me a pingback, my site visits your site and finds the link you made to my site. It then grabs some of the surrounding text, and makes an excerpt on the fly. This behavior isn’t as “smart” as it could be, so sometimes it grabs some of the surrounding markup. Actually, a few days ago I started a discussion on the wp-hackers mailing list about it. Some good ideas were floated around, and it’ll probably be fixed up in the next version.
Note that pingbacks are different than trackbacks. When you send a trackback, you specify an excerpt. With pingback all you send is the URI of your entry, and the URI of my entry.
Weird…numbers 1-4 are exactly the same as myself. Personally, I’d feel a little weird putting out number 2 myself, but in this case nobody has any idea who I am anyway…
Well Uncle Mark, I’m working on my list as I type this.
So, where are those piercings and tattoos?
100 things about me.
Yes, I’m riding the wave of this meme… I heard about it from Jennifer/geeksmakemehot, who heard about it from Charles/twidget, who apparently heard about it from Mark/txfx, though I can’t be sure.
Oh well, here goes:
My name is Benjamin…
My piercings are ear lobes (0 gauge), and nipples (14 gauge vertical bars). The tattoo is an iron cross on my back filled in black with a black border about 1 cm thick spaced 1 cm away from the cross.

You remind me so much of me, except I can’t stand the Iron Cross and think it’s use and history is terrible.
I want to make a 100 things about me now, it seems popular.
