What’s That Smell?
Although I support the death penalty, I generally wouldn’t consider myself a fan of it. I’m troubled by the fact that blacks seem to get the penalty more than whites for the same crimes. I think it simply costs too much to put a man to death, because of endless appeals. I also think that death is too good of a punishment for some people. If I were convicted of a crime (and I were guilty), death would seem far better than a lifetime behind bars.
But now that they’ve captured the man who killed an Atlanta judge and three others in a courthouse, killed a U.S. Customs agent, and shot and wounded 3 others… I just want the asshole to fry. I’m rather disappointed that he didn’t resist capture and give the SWAT team enough reason to blow his brains out. It’s not because I think it would be just. Justice wouldn’t be nearly so merciful. I want him to die simply because it would make me happy. I know that’s selfish, but I have a feeling that I’m not the only one who feels that way.
