Cingular Sucks

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Cingular sucks. You don’t quickly forget about a company that lied to you and screwed you out of over $1,000

F-ing crammers. I hate Cingular with a passion and their Dumbass managers. I won’t bash the customer reps because they are not given authority to think outside the box anyway. I was crammed for roadside assistance from day 1 of my contract. I didn’t notice it until about a year later (I actually looked at my bill because it ran up to $500 one month because of overages). Just to be sure that I didn’t unknowingly sign a contract authorizing the charges, I dug it out of my files….never authorized. I called Cingular…They rep said they could only refund 3 months of charges…I ask to speak with a manager…same..ask to speak to her manager…That manager said I elected for the service when I sign my contract…that it was a free 2 month service and then I was charged. WRONG. I was told by the previous manager that I was charged from the 1st bill. I looked at my copy of the contract and authorization or the charges were NOT included. I asked the manager to look at my contract….they didn’t even have a copy of my contract. Texas law states what they did is illegal. I quoted the texas public utility commission code 32.26 and finally got them to reimburse me the amount. It was only like $50 but it’s the principle. Well, after 2 hrs on the phone i think everything is settled. 4 months later I look at my bill and see they are still charging me roadside assistance and that they never credited me the $50 as promised. I call again and spend a f*cking hour on the phone trying to go up the call center management ladder. Again….from the third tier of management “we can only credit you 3 months back” I tell of texas code 26.32. I’m aware of that she says but we can only credit back 6 months…oh six months is now….I asked do I need to speak with someone with more authority than you to get my full refund…”no 6 months is all…they know that it is more trouble for customers to file notices and go through the proper procedures than its worth…even then because of they weight with politicians they know they won’t have their license pulled. Finally…just by making her stay on the phone and read through my past customer service logs she sees that I was promised a full refund…caught in her own f*cking lie, stupid cunt. “O.K. I see you were promised a refund for the total amount we can honor that”. What a bunch of idiots. I am still under contract but maybe I should just switch…not like they can charge me…they don’t even have a copy of my contract. assholes
Please, take my advice and GET OUT NOW! I had AWFUL service, so I cancelled.
*First Phone Call*
I spoke with this sickly sweet girl named Candy (what an appropriate name). I explained to Candy that my service was horrible and that I wasn’t getting voicemails or phone calls when I was in Jacksonville or Birmingham and seeing as I am there most of the time, that wasn’t going to work. I explained the whole someone trying to get in touch with me because they were having a baby and needed me to drive them to the hospital story… she said I could return the phone, no problemo. I was skeptical, and she didn’t seem to be playing with a full deck, so I called customer service about an hour later
*Second Phone Call*
I spoke with Vonnie, who had a had this deep, overly sexual voice. Maybe before Cingular customer service he had been a phone sex operator. Anyhow, I asked him to read back what Candy (I bet she spells it ‘Candi,’ she seemed like one of those)had noted on my account. He did and reiterated the fact that I would not be charged a dime. He just told me to go bring the phone to the Cingular store. So, after switching to Verizon (which is a million times better, I might add) I head to the store. And if you’ve ever been to a Cingular store (this one, being the epitome of the Cingular store experience) and dealt with those people, you know what kind of torture it is..
*Store Visit*
I go in the store and of course there is a wait and some of the “customer service” agents sitting around doing nothing. After watching some poor old man get suckered into buying the latest and greatest phone because his phone had stopped working and knowing that he will never use 75% of the features that phone has on it, it was my turn… I get this little ray of sunshine named Julie. Let’s just say customer service is not her forte… I’m not really sure what is, but since I try to see the good in everyone, I will assume there’s something positive about this woman tucked away somewhere. Anyhow, I tell her I have cancelled my service, and that’s when the claws came out. She grabbed the phone from me and dismantles it. She shows me this little red dot and claims that the phone had ‘water damage.’ I have had a phone take a bath before, and I would have known if my phone had been submerged in water. How am I to know she didn’t lick her finger and touch the damn little dot herself? (Trust me, I wouldn’t put it past these people). So after explaining that no, I had no idea that dot was there and no, I was not aware my phone went for a swim (that dot could have been red from day one, I wouldn’t have known), I was told I couldn’t get my money back, but that I was “one lucky little girl for not being charged anything.” Julie is lucky she still has a job after calling me “one lucky little girl.” But it’s fine, as long as I never have to deal with you people again… my Verizon phone rings (it’s my Daddy) and as I get up and walk at the door, free of the Cingular bondage, I tell him what FANTASTIC service I am getting with Verizon and how wonderful my phone is…
*Three Months Later*
I get online, pay some bills, and check my account balance… overdrawn by 80 bucks. After having a minor panic attack, I call Suntrust to find out what a mysterious $233 charge on my account is… my jaw hits the floor when they tell me Cingular. At this point, I am madder than hell, but have to wait ’til the next day to call them. I call and speak to Erica, a nice woman, kind of plain, probably lives alone with 15 cats and likes to cross stitch trite sayings on pillows, of which she has about 100. She tells me she will call the Cingular store and get back with me. I am doubtful I will ever hear from Erica again, but I let it go. I call this morning and speak with Yvette (which happens to be the name of the claims adjuster who was fired for not handling my car accident case in a timely manner… just my luck). Oh, let me tell you, Yvette is a real GEM. She tells me that the charge is for ‘liquefied damages.’ Kinda obscure, don’t you think? Well I did, so I asked her to explain to me in detail what these charges were for, exactly… she then tells me that ‘liquefied damages’ mean that the phone CAME INTO CONTACT WITH LIQUID. Well, this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I decided that explaining what liquefied damages really means and resorted to beating my head against a wall, which is probably more productive. Next, I ask her to remove my bank account information from their computer system. She tells me that’s not allowed, which bought her a front and center ticket to hell hath no fury like Rachel. I explained to her that I supplied Cingular that information and she WILL remove it at my request or I will have her job by 5 p.m. today (it had some colorful language and embellishments that I will refrain from repeating, after all, I am a lady). Well, apparently she heard that little message loud and clear and took my account information off. She said that someone would call me back today about the matter (they better). I asked her for copies of all information about my account, and she told me I had to have a subpoena to obtain such records (odd, that I can’t have records on my OWN account?)
Whatever happened to the customer comes first?
Or is right for that matter…
I imagine that in hell the only cell phone service provider is Cingular, which makes hell an even more frightening concept than I ever imagined…
How does one little person stand up for herself against the mass conglomerate (dare I say monopoly?) that is Cingular, AT&T, and Bellsouth?
I suppose I will await my phone call from the always delightful Erica.
Cingular is going the Verizon way and is disabling certain features on their phones and then telling their customers they need to buy software or get drivers to make the features work. This did not happen before. Now i know that 3g stands for 3 stooges.

Let me tell you about my recent problems with cingular,I purchased the 8525 Htc phone which works great except from day one i have never been able to get cingular media net mall ringtones to work right, work great when played on windows media sound like nails on chalk board when set as ringtone. The first 8525 i recieved had the additional problem of the screen freezing up,got a replacement went on cingular medianet downloaded a ringtone same problem nails on chalk board called cingular again sent another 8525,as present i am now on my 3rd 8525 when i am finally told that some ringtones will not work on this phone,so far out 12 ringtones only 1 has worked when applied as ringtone my question is if the ringtone won’t work then why does cingular medianet mall allow me to download it other products that were not compatible that i tried to download a screen would come up, not compatible with you’re device at this time why can’t they warn me before i push the Buy now button and secondly why can’t two products by cingular be compatible,if i have a cingular phone should’nt cingular ringtones work on it also,Oh and heres the real kicker i also have a cingular wireless card for my laptop and i tried repeatedly download to Rom update for 8525 HTC file won’t download or comes up corrupt ,called cingular customer service and was rudely told by a rep by the name of Destiny that it was my fault that i didn’t have a landline and was told to that there was nothing that she could do about the fact that i can’t download this file,I believe i am being punished for having a cingular wireless card, stupid me i actually thought i could use this wireless card to download files as well as surf the web and do business.I should’ve stayed with landline service provider at least i could download files without them being corrupted. Finally after much nashing of teeth, and B**ching they offered me the HP 6925 as a substitute. The first thing i asked is do cingular medianet mall ringtones work and in typical cingular rep answer was let me talk to my supervisor it must really suck being a cingular rep having to listen to people B**TCH all day.Sandra

I LOVE CINGULAR WIRELESS……..THEY ARE PIMP-SHIZZLE!!!!
Dear “cingulartechguy”,
I’m not an American, I got here via a link from a friend. Read what she’s saying- she didn’t get her phone wet AT ALL, the representative just lied and was bitchy to her because she made her work. She said that she has gotten a phone wet before but that phone never got wet.
Like I said, not an American, but just for your information, no company could pull this shite in another country and have people put up with it with smiling faces. It’s the same everywhere - if you get incompetent, rude service, people WILL get angry.
