Trashed because of Terri

If you believe that it would be wrong for a court to disregard the law and rule in favor of Bob and Mary Schindler who want to artificially keep the body of their brain-dead daughter alive, your blog isn’t welcome on HundredPercenter’s blogroll. If you think that it is wrong for judges to rule on personal convictions instead of simply applying the law, you’re gone.

In life, a person is often judged by the company he keeps. I apply that principle in both my business and personal life. As far as my blogging is concerned, I generally try to link to websites that share my ideologies.

Since the Terri Schindler-Schiavo matter, many of the so called conservative bloggers that HundredPercenter links to have, unfortunately, unmasked a naked disregard or milquetoast standing for Terri’s life. I consider Terri’s fight for life a seminal moment in American history. Regard my position on the matter a passionate one– a deal breaker.

HundredPercenter: Link-Dump

Take a gander at the sites getting the boot:

Why, it’s a veritable “who’s who” of the libertarian-leaning blogs! When you get right down to it, it’s the people who don’t feel that they need to impose their moral ideology on everyone else.

That they were delinked isn’t really worth mentioning… people link and delink for any number of reasons, and no explanation is owed. But if someone is going to go to the effort to announce their delinkings, and the reason is this damn amusing, I’m going to take notice. Essentially, the reason is this: people who are not willing to advocate a disregard of the law in an attempt to forward the “conservative agenda” are low on “brain power.”

Here are some responses by the delinked: A Small Victory, Beautiful Atrocities, Protein Wisdom (again), INDC Journal, Diggers Realm.

I don’t really get the impression that they are at all broken up over their delinkings, so it is not out of pity that I am doing this:

It is with great enthusiasm that I would like to welcome A Small Victory, Beautiful Atrocities, Diggers Realm and Protein Wisdom to my ultra-selective blogroll. Their ability to use the power of reason instead of emotional hyperbole is worthy of respect.

Instapundit doesn’t make the cut, because I only include blogs who provide titles for their entries, but he’ll be there in spirit, and the other sites have already earned a spot. I can’t promise anyone a permanent spot, but I can promise that I will never remove a site for being too logical or for lacking ideological blinders. My usual reason for removing a blog from my roll is lack of updates, or boredom with the blog’s content. Basically, if I fall asleep reading your blog, don’t get too comfortable.

Update: Ha! Preston Taylor Holmes of Six Meat Buffet delinks himself.

I have just gone back and re-read a few of my old posts and have realized that I disagree with many of them. Some of the stances I have taken on this blog now offend me and, consequently, I must remove myself from the spot on the “Tennesseans” blogroll that I once held dear. If I can’t find a way to support the sanctity of life and the rule of law simultaneously, I shouldn’t be on my blogroll anyway.

  1. Diggers Realm (subscribed) says:

    Wow! What An Honor!

I was truly thrilled to find out that Diggers Realm has been “delinked” by HundredPercenter. Not because he “delinked” me because of my views on Terri Schiavo, euthanasia, abortion and the death penalty, but because of who I got “delinked”…

[...] I don’t know what’s funnier, that he’s removing folks from his blogroll (buddy list?) because they disagree with them or that he makes a whole post about the fact that he’s removing them.I was one of the first to get “called out” for my views, he said something to the effect of “Cheese and Crackers commits blog suicide; get ready for a Kos link!”Yeah, if only. Koslink would be even BETTER than an Instalanche. (Kosalanche?)At least I’m in esteemed company with William F Buckley and Barney Frank and I stand by my convictions instead of saying what people want you to hear. Ahem. Ahem.Is it just me, or does HP get his kicks from bashing conservatives?Reminds me of my little brother. “You won’t play with me so I’m not your friend anymore!” He’s 8, what’s your excuse?More from ASV (including a priceless Fat Kid comment), and Protein Wisdom.Returning the favor: Wizbang, Beautiful Atrocities, Ubique Patriam Reminisci, Grapevine’s Ramblings, SobekPundit, Spitting In The Wind, The Hole Card, Owlish Mutterings, Lies and Statistics, This Blog is Full of Crap, The Unabrewer, The Unpopulist, Soliloquy, Drumwaster’s Rants, INDC Journal, Tempus Fugit, LeatherPenquin, Little Miss Attila, Lime Shurbet, Speed of Thought [...]
