My Subscribe to Comments 2.0 has been officially released in “beta” form. A big thank you goes out to the many people who helped me troubleshoot the plugin during the limited alpha release for the last two months! The code is very stable now, and the “beta” designation is just indicating that I’m planning on active development and bug fixing (if any should show up) in the next few weeks.

Now that the plugin has been officially released, I’m going to submit it to the WordPress plugin competition, where I think it has a decent shot at the “Best Community Plugin” category ($500 prize).

    I’m having some trouble installing the plugin. First, my full url is http://www.richardsilverstein.com/tikun_olam/. I couldn’t tell fr. yr instructions whether I should install the wp-subscription-manager.php file in my public_html folder or in the folder above it. So I installed it in both (prob. not a good move). Based on my URL can you tell me which folder it should go into?

    After activating the plugin & refreshing I do see a Manage Subscriptions link (in the case of this post–http://www.richardsilverstein.com/tikun_olam/wp-subscription-manager.php?&ref=http://www.richardsilverstein.com/tikun_olam/2005/06/muslim-americans-mention-the-word-suicide-or-visit-the-wrong-website-and-the-fbill-getcha/ . But when I click the link I get this error:

    404 Not Found
    The requested URL /tikun_olam/wp-subscription-manager.php?&ref=http://www.richardsilverstein.com/tikun_olam/2005/06/muslim-americans-mention-the-word-suicide-or-visit-the-wrong-website-and-the-fbill-getcha/ does not exist.

    Based on this, do you have any idea what I’ve done wrong?

    It should exist in the /tikun_olam/ folder. I can access it by going there manually. I don’t get a 404.

    Hi! I found a problem… I have installed Automatic WP Player 3.0 plug-in in my Wordpress 1.5 and after installing your plugin, when I go to the Manage Link, it does not let to me manage the Automatic WP Player anymore :-(

    I try de-activate your plug-in and the link to Manage the Automatic WP Player works again

    Please, help me…

    Daniel, you must upgrade to WordPress 1.5.1.2

    The plugin works fine but im using the POEDIT to translate them but the translation dont load only for the plugin … all the site and others plugins and themes translation tags are OK and correctly loaded in the same .mo from entire blog

    First! great plugin, really.

    But don’t know what i’m doing wrong, somehow i can’t translate the comment’s form to another language, everything looks fine in the manager but not with the comment’s form.

    i’m using an .mo file to translate. tanx

    Vitor, the comments form is dictated by your theme, which may or may not have i18n support. That translation would take place in the main WordPress .mo file, not using the one for this plugin.

    I dont understand this line from “subcribe-to-comments.php” in line 673:

    __('You are subscribed to this entry. Manage your subscriptions.’, ’subscribe-to-comments’)

    This “[manager_link]” link needs to be edited? going for nowere ?

    What part of the code i need to change for the translation work ???

    I put the entries with _e() and __() in the main .mo file and translate with poedit sucessfully but dont work ?!?!!?
    The text apears no translated … why not??

    Villas,

    [manager_link] will be replaced with the URI to the Subscription Manager. You can edit this text by going to Options > Subscribe to Comments.

    For your .mo file to work, it has to be named properly and placed in your /plugins/ directory. You also have to have defined a language for WordPress.

    For example, Spanish would be: subscribe-to-comments-es_ES.mo and your language would have to be defined in WordPress as es_ES

    Villas, from the readme.html file:

    Optional: If you would like to enable users to subscribe to comments without having to leave a comment, place this somewhere in your template, but make sure it is outside the comments form. A good place would be right after the ending </form> tag for the comments form:

    <?php show_manual_subscription_form(); ?>
