London’s Death Toll Rises

It’s now looking like 50 people were killed in the terrorist bombings in London this morning and as many as 700 people were injured in what may be referred to as the “7/7 bombings.”

Now, 50 deaths is no figure to sneeze at, but that’s only an average of 12 deaths per explosion. Compared to a lot of terrorist bombings in Israel and Iraq, these attacks were relatively unsuccessful, if the objective was to kill as many innocents as possible.

It’ll be interesting to see how this shifts public opinion in England. I’m guessing that most will not change their mind on the worthiness of the war on terrorism, and as many will try to actually blame this attack on the United States (as if America’s response to 9/11 was the seminal event in this conflict) as will change their mind and support the efforts.
