What's missing here, which makes your entire argument fail, is a working definition of "terrorist". It's implied here that the word "terrorist" refers to foreigners who might hijack a plane and attack an American city in the name of Islam. In this case, the concept of "terrorist" you have presented us with is itself a stereotype, and it is circular. But personally I look at all those white Christian teabaggers threatening to overthrow the federal government as threatening our nation with "terrorism". And should one of the psychotic Glenn Beck devotees finally cross the line and do something stupid, I would hope they would be treated as the terrorists they are.

As a gay American, it is far more likely that I will be targeted with violence by a fellow American (most likely Christian, and white), than have a foreign Muslim terrorist fly a plane into my house. Hate crimes are a form of terrorism, in that they are not intended to merely harm a single victim, but also to send a threatening message to all members of a demographic that victim happened to belong to (which is why hate crimes are considered more egregious and punished more harshly by federal law). Something tells me you didn't factor things like this into your definition of "terrorism".

I would also like to see some credible statistics, instead of blanket statements like "almost all terrorists are Muslim". I see. So, do you have any evidence to back this up?

The New York Civil Liberties Union has filed suit against the city, alleging that its random bag searches are unconstitutional even while doing nothing to prevent terrorism.

I have a friend of Middle Eastern descent. During the halcyon days before 2001, he told me about travelling in Europe during the '80s, when Muslim terrorists were hijacking airplanes. He said every time he went to get on a plane, he would be pulled out of line and frisked.

I asked if this offended him, and he said, "No, there were people who looked like me who would gladly have hijacked the plane and killed people on board. I didn't mind a little inconvenience if it kept people like that off the plane."

That strikes me as the sane approach to someone who gets caught up by profiling. If a perfectly innocent Muslim finds himself on a plane piloted by religious lunatics, headed for a skyscraper, will it be any consolation to him that he was not inconvenienced or embarrassed by being searched?
