Denial and Deception

I have been, and remain, a supporter of the resumption of the war in Iraq. That being said, I had a good laugh over this press release of a Bush speech that I found at the White House’s website. The speech is dated October 7th, 2002.

The speech itself is nothing special, although it is filled with all the “Iraq is seeking nuclear weapons” stuff that makes people on the left see red. What’s funny is that above this speech about the threat that Iraq poses to the world and the possibility that military action might be necessary, there is this image:

IRAQ: Denial and Deception
Er... THEIR deception!

Of course, the banner refers to Iraq’s denials and deceptions. After the hysterical opposition to the resumption of military conflict with Iraq by the left and their claims of deception on the part of the Bush administration, the image seems to take on a new meaning. When I first saw the image, without noting the date of the press release, I thought that the White House’s site had been hacked!
