5 Windbags… and Jeff

In case you were having one of those days where you just sit around and say to yourself “I’m not nearly as cross eyed as I’d like to be,” go watch this video of Bernie “makes lists of people he thinks are screwing up the country” Goldberg arguing with 4 other windbags. Oh, and Jeff Jarvis is there too, but after he makes the only decent point of the whole segment, he is quickly drowned out by the shouting and the shouting and the… wait for it… more shouting.

Linda Stasi won’t shut up long enough to let anyone else talk. She’s much too busy outlining her “point”… basically that she thinks Paris Hilton should have been on the list because Paris Hilton is destroying America and she wrote this wonderful article about how Paris’ parents should be put in jail and blah blah blah blah blah. Basically, she just likes the sound of her own voice.

The next guy, Torre (sp?) from Rolling Stone first calls the list stupid, and then quibbles about the ordering of some of the people on the list. Stupid things are fun to talk about.

Jarvis then makes the only decent point, saying that he disagrees with the premise of the book. “America is not screwed up,” he says. Indeed.

The next guy (some thick necked pop-culture “expert”) asks questions and then answers them without so much as a comma in between. “How many times you been on Fox News? Eight times! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Eight times! Ah-ah-ah!” Thank you, Count von Count.

Then it’s back to Stasi, who rants on and on about how it’s rude for Goldberg to tell her to shut up. “We’re just sitting here discussing it,” she whimpers. Of course, at this point I would have given anything for someone to have thrown a dictionary at her face so she could have found out that under the definition of “discussion,” nothing is mentioned about refusing to let anyone else talk, and then whining when they call you on it.

I tell you… it takes a lot for Bernie Goldberg not to be the most annoying person in the room.
