Gmail, Now with “From:” Support

I love Gmail. I’ve been using it for about a year and a half, and it really doesn’t get any better than this. There was only one thing keeping me from using it for my primary mail account… they didn’t let you specify your own “From:” address. Everything had to come from yourusername@gmail.com
That was a deal breaker for me. So I hit the “suggest a feature” form every few weeks, and passed on a note about how great it would be if they offered this. I had almost given hope, until a few days ago, someone mentioned that they had added the support. Gods be praised! I’m now using Gmail primarily, and I think I’m going to stick with it. I’m not the only one who is happy with this feature.
My e-mail address hasn’t changed, obviously, so no need to update your address books. In fact, my mail was already being “split up” and sent to a POP3 account and to Gmail after passing through SpamArrest, so this change was quite easy for me to make (Gmail was already full of my last 2 months worth of e-mails).

Hey! I have used Google Mail as my primary e-mail address, while using my own address to my own domain as transmitter of anything sent through my @gmail.com-account. It’s worked for a couple of months, at least, maybe for a month longer than so.
Might be as I’m using the UK version of Gmail - the American and British editions differ more than just lingually, y’know.
Hello, wonderful and informative web site.
Good luck.
