You wanna teach your own kids to be selfish, self-centered, and insensitive to the suffering of others.

I’ll teach them to be caring, sensitive and generous. I’ll also teach them that it isn’t the government’s job to force people to be any of those things. In this way, you’re not much different from those on the far right who want Christianity legislated. That is, you each want a system of morality forced on people, you just disagree about the specifics of the system.

As for me, I’d rather have a minimalistic government that affords me as much freedom as possible and allows me to live my life according to the moral code I choose.

Just don’t come cryin’ to me when they stick you in a third-rate nursing home because old people are “social parasites,” Mr. Social darwinism.
