Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton’s strategy team is brilliant. Everyone knew that to stand a chance in the 2008 Presidential race, she’d have to play to the middle… but seeing that plan in action is another thing altogether.

“I believe that we lost critical time in dealing with Iran because the White House chose to downplay the threats and chose to outsource the negotiations,” Clinton said.

The woman is trying to out-Bush Bush!

What remains to be seen is what kind of impact this strategy will have on her support from the extreme left. Even though the extreme left doesn’t represent the views of ordinary Democrat voters, they do have a fairly large monopoly on Democratic talking points, and could hurt Hillary’s chances if they oppose her. Will they be able to see Hillary for who she really is, and ignore her posturing as simple election strategy, or will they feel compelled, as anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan did, to condemn her for her little fantasy trip to Hawksville, TX?

If the Republicans are smart, and if they can get it together, they’ll play both sides of this to their advantage.
