Capital Punishment Straw Man
Seen on the shirt of Gainesville, FL resident Bonnie Flassig at a protest in Starke, FL where a man who killed a police officer was scheduled to be executed the other night:
WHY do we kill people to show people that killing people is wrong?
I don’t know, Bonnie… why do you wear a straw man fallacy on a t-shirt to take the bite out of your statement?
In the end of the day, I’m on your side of this, Bonnie, albeit for different reasons. But if you really want to accomplish your goal, you might try to first understand the opposition. The death penalty isn’t a morality teaching tool, it’s a way of ending criminal careers, permanently.
