Life is a Rollercoaster
2007 has been quite a year for Sarah and me. And there’s plenty more in store.
January
Sarah and I house hunted. We put in an offer on a house that was rejected.
February
The house hunt continued. We found a different house that we loved, and put in an offer that was accepted! We got approved for the mortgage and closed on February 28th.
March
A few days after the water was turned on in our new house, a leak developed. It took several weeks and close to $5,000 to fix. The problem was pre-existing and was not disclosed by the seller. During this saga, we continued working on fixing the house up, painting most of the rooms, and installing a new ceiling fan.
On March 17th, St. Patrick’s day, my sister Mary was thrown from a horse. The horse fell on her, fracturing her skull and breaking both carotid arteries. She went into a coma and was declared legally brain dead the next afternoon. Her breathing tube was removed, and she died in our arms. We experienced a tremendous outpouring of support from across the world. Even in death, Mary continues to inspire us.
April
New carpet was installed in our house. More painting was done. We bought and started laying down wood laminate flooring in the bedroom. That work will continue today. On Tuesday, the photographer for our May 5th wedding canceled on us. We are in the process of lining up a replacement.
The future
Here’s a look forward:
May
On May 5th (cinco de marriage), Sarah and I will be married in front of 130 of our friends and relatives. We’ll honeymoon for 6 days. Upon returning, we’ll move into our new house, which will hopefully be fully remodeled and have all of our stuff already moved in.
June
Exciting news for June, but I can’t yet talk about it!
July
Off to WordCamp in San Francisco, with Sarah. Will likely stay five days. Let me know if you’re going to be there (or if you live there) and would like to hook up!
August
Probably going to Gnomedex.
More to come
Who knows what else lies around the corner?
