I was in Florida last week, drove down from Atlanta down to Fort Lauderdale. Stopped by Cape Canaveral on the way and I witnessed how the Florida sky turned from clear to awesome to unbelievable. I also took a lot of pics. Here’s one of them:
Ominous. My parents live outside of Orlando. This photo makes me wonder what this hurricane season might have in store (Bertha, the early tropical storm, does not bode well).
Everywhere we’ve been this year, the weather has been exceptional.
Just browsing and prolly chiming in late (you blogged June and I’m commenting in Aug). I grew up in Florida, and these storms were regular Summer occurences. The morning would start out gorgeous, early afternoon the humidity would become almost unbearable, and around 3:45 or 4:00 pm a monstrous storm like the photo above would appear over the Everglades, drop torrential amounts of rain, and would then blow into the Ocean by 4:14 – 4:30 pm. You could set your watch by it. The humidity would return with the Sun shortly after that. I miss Flordia storms, and think they are beautiful and awesome. But they haven’t changed much since I’ve lived there. It’s the past few Hurricanes: Andrew, Wilma, Katrina (sure I’m missing another) that have spooked the locals. These awesome, imposing storms are just another beautiful facet of our favorite state.
I just saw this post of yours while looking at your “Subscribe to Comments” Wordpress plugin. I love the photo, and I’d like to see the uncropped version of it, just to contemplate the scenery. These black clouds, and lightning storms, drive me crazy. Sunny weather seems dull comparing to those.

Tony, here is the original.
Mark,
A two-months overdue thanks!
I must have forgotten to tick the “notify me” option…
