I predicted that the seat would go republican, because Massachusetts' only liberal population is in certain parts of Boston. The rest of the state is lily white and conservative. They have been waiting for Ted's seat ever since he declared he had cancer. The only reason that even he was able to retain his seat is because he is a Kennedy. It has never mattered that his politics are different from the majority of the population of the state, because he was Irish Catholic he was forgiven for his liberalism. Doesn't anyone remember the racial riots of the 1970s from the Irish Catholics of Boston? Well, I do. My husband didn't even want us to go into certain parts of Boston, because he was afraid of the racists who lived there. He is white and I am black. His mother lived in Boston and he lived there for a few years. It was enough. I grew up in New York City and am not afraid of whites, but I respected his fear for my safety. I was not surprised at all. There aren't many blacks or any other non-European nationalities outside of Boston or its surrounding cities. Why?

A pickup truck would be the perfect vehicle for transporting a giant kerosine-soaked cross to a black person's lawn. And there's plenty of space for white power bumper stickers.

When Rush or O'Reilly make an off-base comment, it's plastered on Digg, Reddit, etc all over the web.

Yet when someone like Olbermann says something completely stupid - no one says anything.

I hate mainstream media with a passion.

I'm glad *someone* points this shit out.

I was watching MSNBC when Olbermann posed the question to Howard Fineman. So weird.

Olbermann clearly has a man crush on Obama, which leads to straw grasping when things go off the rails. And I can only guess that Fineman feels the need to kiss up to Olbermann, since he danced around the proposition of racist MA voters rather than reject it outright. In fact, Fineman went on to suggest that pickup trucks are a political dog whistle to racists. Heh.
