My monthly and yearly archives are acting up. It is strange… all of the 2003 ones work, but the 2003 yearly archive doesn’t work. None of the 2004 monthly archives work, nor does the 2004 yearly archive, but the 2004 daily archives seem fine. Sometimes I get Server 500 errors, sometimes just blank pages. It isn’t a mod_rewrite issue, as I get the same blank pages or errors if I input the month/year variables manually.
Bear with me while I try to figure this out.
Update: I figured it out. It seems to be a problem with the Textile 2.0 plugin I was using. Whether it is a bug in the plugin or just that the plugin takes up so many resources, I can’t say. But I’ve deactivated it for the time being. When I imported from MT, I converted all my Textile markup to its XHTML output, because at the time there wasn’t a Textile plugin for WP that could parse all the markup that Brad Choate’s MT version could.
Worse case is that I decide it isn’t worth the trouble and give up on it. While I do like the markup system, it is quite processor intensive. TextPattern gets around this by parsing the markup when you post the entry, and storing two version in the database. One is called when the entry is displayed… and the other called when you go back to edit it.
