Page Hover Titles

About

Page Hover Titles is a WordPress plugin that allows you to change the html title attribute used for pages displayed using the wp_list_pages() function. Normally the title (which is seen when you hover your mouse over the link) is just the name of the page, which is redundant. This plugin allows you to provide more info in that tooltip.

Instructions

  1. Upload page-hover-titles.php to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  2. Activate the “Page Hover Titles” plugin in your WordPress administration interface
  3. Create (or edit) a page, and down below, add a Custom Field of “hover_title” (without the quotes) and as its value, type in the text you would like to be in that page’s title tooltip

    This plugin is really useful for emptying the title attributes too, they can appear very redundant. Thanks.

    Hello, thanks a lot for your plugin. It seems to be the only one of its kind, although the need for such a tool should be crucially commonplace. And it works easily and well, too. Except, not in my site… That is, while it does replace the inept/redundant wordpress-generated “title” attribute for a Page link, it also breaks my site’s Daydream-theme-based layout (monocolumn)… Argh! :-)

    Never mind, I managed to get the plugin to work. There was a slight bug/typo in an optional php-function call in the theme’s template file, which prevented the plugin to function correctly.

    Thanks a lot for this very useful WordPress add-on.
