Subscribe to Comments 2.1
Subscribe to Comments 2.1 is a plugin that allows commenters on your blog to check a box before commenting and get e-mail notification of further comments. It is one of the most popular WordPress plugins out there for the simple reason that it helps foster a community around your blog by encouraging commenters to come back and stay engaged in the dialog.

- Users cannot enter a random e-mail into the subscription manager and modify someone else’s subscriptions
- In order to modify subscriptions, users need to use a special link, given in notification e-mails, and printed in the comments form as long as they have their comment cookie
- Recognition of subscription status

- In the subscription manager, users can request that their notification address be changed for all their subscriptions
- Special link is sent to the old address for verification
- Once clicked, their e-mail address will be changed instantly for all their comments

- For users who want custom placement of the checkbox/link to subscription manager, this can be done with one simple function call, placed anywhere in the comment form

Version 2.1 Update
Version 2.1 of Subscribe to Comments has a feature that people have been begging me to implement for many months: you can view the list of people who are subscribed to posts on your blog, and you can also see a list of the most “subscribed” posts. Also in this version is a new one-file install. You just put subscribe-to-comments.php in your /plugins/ directory, activate, and you’re done. This version will work on WordPress versions from 2.0.6 through 2.3.1 (highest tested).

- 2.1.2 Fixed a few bugs that’d send bad notifications (thanks Donncha!), cleaned up some code and moved to using proper WP escaping functions
- 2.1.1 WordPress 2.2 compatibility! Also note that support for

Hi there - thanks for the sweet plugin! We had to remove Subscribe-To-Comments for a while since bots were signing people up for emails and then trying to sneak a single spam comment through. Got some big huge ugly lists of “subscribers”.
The fix I implemented in this new version is in the add_subscriber function - I changed the SQL that selects the comment_post_ID to check for an approved comment:
$postid = $wpdb->get_var("SELECT comment_post_ID from $wpdb->comments WHERE comment_ID = '$cid' and comment_approved='1'");Seems to work well in testing, so I’m pushing it out. Just posting this for anyone else looking for info…

Hi, this plugin is exactly what I need but I need the “subscribe without commenting” and I am at a loss as to how to set it up. Would like it to appear between bottom of post and above regular comment form. Person I am doing it for would like subscribers to not have to comment to subscribe to comments. When I put all of function show_manual_subscription_form() in single.php tells me is already called by the subscribe-to-comments.php plugin file. I’m a WordPress newbie, I think I am missing something very obvious. Thanks, Tony

Hi, does v2.1 of this plugin work in WP2.1.1?
I can’t get it to work at all - no emails turn up - I have followed instructions explicitly.
Also, I note that the “clear:both” option in WPAdmin stays on no matter what I set in the options page, I click update, but when I go back to the page its selected again.

Personally, I am always careful to un-tick the little box so that I don’t get notification unless I want to follow the ongoing discussion. In fact, sometimes, I find it annoying too. Hehehe. However, this plugin - Subscribe to Comments is still a very good way for me to communicate with my blogs visitors. I have a way of them coming back to my site. hi, this is a nice plug-in, unfortunately a lot of spammers added random addresses to my db and i’d have to delete them one by one. so it would be nice to have an interface to delete several marked addresses at once, even better if there was an option to invert the selection.

I’m trying to club this plugin with the “Expand Comments” ( http://nymb.us/projects/show/212 ) plugin. The problem is that I have no clue how to show the “Notify…” checkbox on the expanded comments that display on the index page. Any help would be appreciated.

This plugin is great. I’m using it on almost all of my blogs right now. For me personally, getting my responses to comments via email is much more convenient then subscribing to a comment RSS feed. Thanks for the hard work.

it’s me again… Sorry for bothering you… I tried adding the line just before the form submission in the inline-comment-form.php included with the plugin… yet I don’t see the subscribe checkbox. Basically, this plugin uses AJAX to display comments (and leave comments) from the blog index page… please help?
Maybe I need to put the function call in some particular spot, or maybe there’s something I’m not doing right?

Well, I got it to call the function properly… there’s only one small problem… on the index page, the “notify me…” checkbox only displays on the latest post and not on any of the other posts… any cure?
And I’m really if I seem to be spamming your comments… if there’s a forum or any other way you provide support for this plugin, please let me know.

Abonneren en avatars deel zoveel 21:06 - 12 Mar 2007 Onbezet.nl Jaja, ook vandaag weer lopen prutsen aan deze site. Vanaf nu kun je je abonneren op reakties op een bepaald bericht. Dit doe je door bij het schrijven van een reaktie het betreffende vakje aan te vinken. Volgens mij spreekt het verder voor zich, maar als er vragen over zijn, hoor ik dat graag!
I’m using wordpress 2.1, and I am using your plugin, and the checkbox goes all the way down to the footer, so no one can see it…
I try to go into options and uncheck the option that says clear css, but when I go back to see the options, the box for css clear is checked again…
So far, the subscribe to box is still all the way down at the footer of my blog..
It looks fine in internet explorer.. but does not work on firefox or opera..
