wordpress-2.0.3-tuneup.php - Upload it to
/wp-content/plugins/ - Activate it
Credits
Thanks to Ryan Boren and Michael D. Adams for helping squish these bugs in SVN.
Versions
- Version 0.5 Automatic plugin deactivation on upgrade should now work on Windows servers
- Version 0.4 You can now delete links from the “Link Manager” with JavaScript turned off, and this plugin will now deactivate itself when you upgrade to a newer version of WordPress (older versions would stop working, but were still activated)
- Version 0.3 Added a fix for the “Are you sure?” dialog for link editing
- Version 0.2 Added a fix for the “Are you sure?” dialog for user editing
- Version 0.1 Initial release

When I click the “Delete” button for a post on it’s edit page, the old style confirmation pops up. If I then click “Cancel” on that, it continues to the new annoying confirmation page rather than just stopping like it should.
I’ve tried your 0.4 version and activated the plugin to resolve the “Are you sure” ignoration when using FeedWordPress, but my problems with this other plugin still remain.
Viper007Bond,
This will be fixed in WordPress 2.0.4
Narcis,
The plugin author will have to update the plugin to work with WP 2.0.3+
Nazgul,
Thanks for pointing this out. Version 0.5 should fix this issue.

Hi there,
I just installed V5 and am got the following warning msg when updating a user profile:
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/mountain/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-2.0.3-tuneup.php:104) in /home/mountain/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable-functions.php on line 288
The update worked OK.
I had to put an older version back because I got warning msgs in several places such as editing a post.
Ron,
That means you copy/pasted the PHP code instead of clicking the download link, or that you right clicked the download link. Left click the link above, left click download, then upload the file that is downloaded.
Thanks, Mark.
I am really sorry to have wasted your time. I thought I had read the instructions properly.
Cheers, Ron …
Thanks for doing this! I had a problem with my old host, I didn’t have an MT export file, and long story short, I was re-uploading all the comments. I was so aggravated by the extra step of confirmation and the extra backslashes in posts.
Hello, is there any way you could fix the _encloseme bug and include the fix in this plugin? There are many threads describing the problem on the wordpress support forum, like this one:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/54187
They say there is a fix already, however this fix would require me to modify a file in wp-includes and it sounds tricky for a code-novice. Here is the fix:
http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2478
Dgold,
I’m not seeing any problem. Those hidden keys are supposed to be created when you edit a post. If you have additional information, please add it to the ticket in Trac.
Hi guys! I am having an issue with WP2.0.3 that I thought you should know about.
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/77453?replies=11
Posts are dissapearing from my blogs. They are there when I post them, and even well after 75+ people have commented on the blog. Then all of the sudden, the post is marked as private, and it disapears from the site.
Any thoughts as to why?
I was thinking that this might also be a bug in the WP 2.0.3 chain of bugs. How can I go about looking in to this?
Just wanted to say thanks for this great plugin. I started experiencing those annoying bugs today (even though I upgraded to 2.0.3 a few weeks ago), and I thought I was sunk. Thanks for saving the day.
You saved the links in my comments. Thanks!
Thank you so much, that fixed my problems!
I was going mad with those questions and backslashes in my links!
Thank you for this plugin, found via this post. It works well for fixing the apostrophe problem.
Thx for this useful plugin. Hope they solve the bugs soon.
CHeers!
Hey man, thanks for the wonderful plugin!
I’m nowhere near anybody that understands anything beyond editing the template and using a plugin. Yours saved my miseries!
Regards
Beautiful. Thanks for this. I was wondering what all these “Are You Sure You Want Extra Slashes Added All Over The Place” dialog boxes were about…
thanks for this man! That backslash bug and the confirmation nagging were really annoying.
Once you have installed and activated the plugin… do you need to keep it around forever, or does it do its thing and can then be removed?
thank you for this.
Hello, Thanks so ever much for this plugin, it worked like a charm on my test blog but it doesn’t work at all on my client’s site. I am using all the same WP files and plugins there, the only difference that her mySQL version is 4.0.27 while I have 4.1.18. So I was wondering if this could be the reason?
Thank you again and big hugs,
Marina
Steve,
Upon upgrade, it should deactivate itself. Even if it doesn’t, it will cease to function… so you don’t need to worry about it.
Marina,
shouldn’t have anything to do with MySQL… make sure that all WP and plugin files are properly uploaded.
I found out that the feeds were all broken when using the plugin. Read about it here:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/80575
I disabled the plugin. It might be a simple bug but because I don’t have time to look at the code, I didn’t.
Hi!
Do you know if this plug-in mangles comment links? I installed it to get rid of some annoying WP issues. However, all links in my comments are broken now. They are rendered with spaces somewhere in the URL.
See http://wagenknecht.org/blog/archives/2006/07/the-beans-are-really-cold.html#comment-3002 for an example.
Cu, Gunnar
The plugin worked like a charm. It beats hacking WordPress. Thanks so much.
