Yes. The next version will have double opt in option so that they have to verify address before being allowed to subscribe.

Which plugin will be compatible with “Subscribe to Comments” to send e-mail through GMAIL? I tried use “WP Mail SMTP” and “Configure SMTP”, unfortunatly they don’t work properly for me.

Is there a way to prevent junk emails from subscribing to posts? I’m getting a lot of obviously fake email addresses subscribing to posts and I’m afraid I’m going to be getting a lot more spam emails because of it? Maybe adding a captcha to the subscribe w/o commenting?

REF: links back to comments in notification email

For example, the link back in notification of “When we get around to writing a Core subscriptions plugin” was
http://txfx.net/wordpress-plugins/subscribe-to-comments/#comments

It was the same for “I’m considering adding that feature” and “It should only display that to the post author”

The link to that first comment is http://txfx.net/wordpress-plugins/subscribe-to-comments/comment-page-50/#comment-752731 … so internal anchors are working fine.

Include specific links to individual comments in notification?

It should only display that to the post author. That is part of WordPress, not this plugin.

That functionality is in separate plugins right now. When we get around to writing a Core subscriptions plugins, we may integrate both features.

For those who use qTranslate plugin and have problems with email notification subject, shown like … … etc etc. I found a solution I hope can help. It’s very easy and requires only two steps:

. S1 .
search this:
$message = sprintf(__(“There is a new comment on the post ”%s”", ‘subscribe-to-comments’) . “. n%snn”, $post->post_title, get_permalink($comment->comment_post_ID));

replace with:
$message = sprintf(__(“There is a new comment on the post ”%s”", ‘subscribe-to-comments’) . “. n%snn”, __($post->post_title), get_permalink($comment->comment_post_ID));

. S2 .
search this:
$subject = sprintf(__(‘New Comment On: %s’, ‘subscribe-to-comments’), $post->post_title);

replace with:
$subject = sprintf(__(‘New Comment On: %s’, ‘subscribe-to-comments’), __($post->post_title));

That’s all.
I hope this help. Mark, could you apply this in one of next release?

But I don’t see the ReplyTo thingie … is that an option tucked away in Admin somewhere? (*cough* It’s starting to look like VB5 in there!) Apologies for the n00bish question if I just overlooked it.

p.s. I think you “Manage subscriptions” is a great example of integration.
