Joy! Charley is now a category 4 hurricane, with gusts of up to 160 MPH, and sustained winds of 125 MPH. It’s looking like Charlotte Harbor is going to get hit worst of all, but it’ll still probably feel like a category 3 hurricane up here, (not even 25 miles north).

Best of luck to you…my parents live in Sarasota, fifth floor of a high-rise condo next to the yacht harbor…they plan to weather it out. I’ve been through several hurricanes (and a few himicanes as well 😉 ), so I know the terror/wonder they can invoke.
Uh, my parents live on Charlotte Harbor and I can’t get through. Are you telling me that they are screwed?
Where have you seen that the brunt will hit Charlotte and not Tampa?
It’s been on the news… and a look at the satellite/radar shows a slight turn to the east. Right now, it’s so big, that’s it’s unlikely to make a major turn.
Charlotte is going to get hit hard. I’ll say a prayer for your parents.
