Hurricane Charley is now a category 3 hurricane, with winds near the center of 125 MPH. Hurricane force winds are extending 30 miles from the center, which right now looks like it is going to hit a little bit south of where it was expected, likely the Port Charlotte/Ft. Myers area. It is raining very lightly up here.

Mark,
Whereabouts are you? I’m blogging from Sarasota at Hatcher’s Hack.
Looks like category 4 now friend.
Take care of yourself.
I’m in Nokomis, right near the intersection of US 41 and Laruel Rd.
Rob,
Beat you to it by one minute.
It’s going to be a rough one, for sure. The only good news, is that if it makes landfall south of here, as it looks like it will, the storm surge won’t be as great, so my first floor might not be completely submerged.
Sorry about that Mark. I clicked through from my news reader and posted the comment, then clicked to your index page and saw the newer post. Apparently my news reader hadn’t gotten the latest post from your feeds yet.
I only beat you by a minute… I sure HOPE you don’t grab my feed more than once a minute!
I use bloglines. I’m not sure what their policy is, but I’m sure its appropriate.
Did Nokomis get hit at all? My part of N. Sarasota got not-terribly-heavy rain and some wind. That’s it…
We got the same. Sporadic wind gusts, and medium to heavy rain. It looks like it just narrowly missed the both of us, to the east.
