As much as you were probably hoping it would totally stink, it appears that Microsoft’s new AntiSpyware program is actually very good. The program searches for, and deletes spyware viruses, among other things.
My weapon of choice has always been Lavasoft’s AdAware. But if Microsoft can do the job better, then good for them! I downloaded and installed the software without a hitch.
There is one thing to consider, however, and that is the issue of cost. The release version of AntiSpyware will not be a free program, but will require a subscription fee. Is it worth it? It’s too early to say.

I downloaded it a couple of days ago. Its worked slick so far. I like that it monitors for spyware instead of just scanning for it after the fact like Adaware.
Its a nice tool, but I’m not sure I’d pay for it. I’ll probably go back to Adaware after they ask for some money.

I still like Spybot Search and Destroy (SBS&D). I tried Adaware several times and yet, this one always finds things it misses.

I’ve actually been scared to try a lot of new anti-spyware programs due to a bad experience I had with a supposed spyware scanner that ended up being…spyware.
It looked totally legit, but I paid the price in pop-ups.
Have you tried the new MS version King?
