Synergy is officially the coolest and most genius program I have ever used. Let’s put it this way: my girlfriend is not what I would call a “computer person.” She uses them, but isn’t all… geeked out like I am. But when I told her what Synergy does, she was genuinely excited.
So what is Synergy? It’s a multi-platform software-only keyboard and mouse sharing solution. Basically, you could have a Windows XP machine, a Mac machine, and a Linux machine sitting next to each other, and you could plug the mouse and keyboard into any one of them, and use they keyboard and mouse on any of the three systems. What’s even cooler is that the switching is dynamic. Say you have the Windows machine on the left, the Mac system in the middle, and the Linux machine on the right. Starting from the Mac system, you could move the mouse off the left edge of the screen, and it would appear on the right edge of the Windows system. Or, you could move off the right edge of the Mac system and have the cursor appear on the left edge of the Linux system.
If you have two computers next to each other, you owe it to yourself to try this out.
Thanks to Matt to bringing this gem to my attention.

That is pretty cool. What will they think of next?
