I recently became aware of an issue with AOL’s built-in browser where a comment being submitted on my website would appear to come from a different IP address than the one that requested the page in the first place. In order to stop comment spam, I have to guard against this kind of IP monkey business. The result was that an AOL user’s comments were identified as spam.
Here’s the solution: don’t use AOL’s built-in browser!
Not only is it Internet Explorer, but AOL’s use of caching makes it extremely disabled, as confirmed by this latest episode.
I’ve gone ahead and hidden the comment form for users of AOL’s built in browser and displayed a message telling them why. I notified DrDave of the issue, and he is currently putting similar code into his excellent Spam Karma plugin to address this issue.

Hey, just a very small detail, but would you mind changing the URL to be:
http://www.unknowngenius.com/blog/wordpress/spam-karma
(instead of /blog/static/spam-karma)

Done.
