This has annoyed me about WordPress for a long time: for Trackback and Pingback titles and excerpts, HTML entites are encoded twice. An unencoded &
should become &
, but instead becomes &
, and »
becomes »
. So with a little help from Dr Dave, I was able to whip up some code that fixes that.

Death To & v1.0
It should behave itself and not mess with properly encoded entities. Let me know if you have any problems (and a link to a page displaying the problem would be nice).

Fixed in 1.3. 🙂

So I see! But unfortunately old Pingbacks and Trackbacks will still need fixing… unless we were to apply this regex in
upgrade.php
and fix it for good.
