Want to make a Mac OS X user’s head explode? Exit their running copy of Quicksilver and ask them to restart it. “Why that’s easy… you just use Quicksilver to… OH DEAR GOD!”
I’m not even really joking. Quicksilver is that embedded. It’s like a direct pathway from your brain to your computer. I panic a little bit whenever I’m on another computer and I tap the Quicksilver activation combo without thinking… it’s like being unable to use your hands.

Would you recommend QuickSilver?

I’d recommend it to the point that if you didn’t own a Mac, I’d say you had to buy one so you could use it. I keep discovering new levels of functionality, and within days, they’ve become engrained in my daily computer use.
Example:
I want to copy and paste two non-contiguous blocks of text. Before Quicksilver, I’d copy one, go to the destination, paste, go back, copy the other, go back to the destination again, paste. Quicksilver can keep a “history” of your clipboard, so I just copy the first, copy the second, go to the distination, and paste them both.
It also learns what things you use… so that it can find the item with fewer keystrokes. Most of the stuff I do requires typing only 2 or 3 chars. My text editor comes up in one keystroke, my server’s FTP ‘favorite’ in Transmit comes up in two strokes. ‘g’ brings up Google, and ‘gm’ brings up Gmail. This means that I don’t have to look and see if it has figured out what I want… I know it will, so I could do the following: type a line of text, save it to a file, e-mail that file as an attachment to someone, then send the file to the trash, empty the trash, and shut down my computer… with my eyes closed.

I downloaded it and tried a few commands. “OH MY GOD!” is exactly what I said! This app is amazing. If it was voice activated, I’d say this is PERFECT!
Thank you for telling the world about QuickSilver! 🙂

Whoa!
I’d better start a Help Me Buy a Mac Fund. I downloaded QuickSilver and tried it out on a friends iMac. The only words for it are Oh! My God.
Now I need me a Mac, maybe I’ll save up and buy one of them Mac Minis for starters.
